Niigaani-gichigami Water Festival and Lecture

DateWednesday, June 12, 2019
Time: 6:00pm
LocationCathedral Centre, 65 Church St., Toronto

The Cathedral Church of St. James invites you to join the final event of their Niigaani-gichigami Water Festival and Lecture Series. This festival brings together diverse communities to learn about, pray for, and express our gratitude for the waters we depend on. A variety of events, lectures, and activities have been held throughout May and June in celebration of the festival. On June 12, the Cathedral is hosting a service, supper, and lecture to close out the festival.

The intention for the festival is to build a network and community thinking/acting on the question: How do we live on the water and build a right relationship with the waters in our region? The hope is to bring together a variety of communities for celebration of the gift of water, lament, learning, and community building through ceremony and song.

The events on the 12th will be moderated by The Reverend Evan Noodin Smith (Toronto Birth Centre and Toronto Urban Native Ministries). The schedule for the evening is as follows:

6:00pm: Service
6:30pm: Light Supper
7:00pm: Lecture
